Golden Masala Hot Cacao Recipe

A DRINK WORTH SWAPPING OUT YOUR MORNING COFFEE.

Original Recipe by The Nadia Effect

This Golden Masala Hot Cacao Recipe is a delicious and healthy holistic drink to consume every day. I used to drink a basic golden chai latte every day instead of this until I decided that I wanted to benefit from adding in a few additional antioxidant ingredients like the raw cacao powder. This drink is reminiscent of hot cocoa; it froths like hot cocoa, it is thick and creamy like hot cocoa, but is it hot cocoa? I will let you decide, but I know that you will love this drink, and it will soon be a staple in your household.

INGREDIENTS (1 serving)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Place all of the ingredients into pan and whisk the ingredients until fully incorporated and warm. Alternatively, you can use a milk frother to warm and blend to perfection.

  2. Serve immediately after making.

  3. Optional – Top with vegan marshmallows

NOTES

  • Make sure that you are buying raw cacao powder, not cocoa powder. Raw cacao is thought to be the highest source of antioxidants of all foods and the highest source of magnesium of all foods that you can eat. Raw cacao powder contains more fiber than cocoa powder since more of the nutrients from the whole bean are still intact during its very minimal processing.

  • Golden Milk, also known as turmeric milk, is loaded with antioxidants that provide health benefits. These health benefits include improved digestion, improved brain, and heart function, and can lower inflammation in the body.

  • The benefits of Masala Chai are similar to Golden Milk with the addition of helping with energy levels and immunity.

  • You can use any sweetener you like in place of the maple syrup; I particularly love the additional flavor that the maple brings to this recipe.

  • From The Nadia Effect: "This recipe was not sponsored by DelighTeas®. I buy these products because I love using them daily, and I am a massive fan of their quality and flavor. "

MAKE AHEAD TIP

  • You can pre-mix all of your dry ingredients in a pretty jar to keep on your kitchen countertop. You can safely double the recipe as much as you want to fill up a jar.
